Religion - every Monday morning it was expected that everyone knew all about the Sermon that had been preached at the Church on Sunday. A bit awkward if you hadn't been! Arithmetic - seemed to be entirely memorising 'Times Tables' up to 12. We did have questions fired at us as the teacher went around the class. Art - I remember an art lesson where Trev Johnson drew a bulldozer that was clearing the land on the hill above the school, which we could all see through the windows - his was much better than mine! On another lesson we had to model the outline of Staffordshire and place hills on it in plasticine - this went quite well except that the bottom of the county had been drawn incorrectly, and I remember the male teacher? being most upset since we hadn't told him and it all had to be done again. English - can only remember lots of Spelling Bee's. Great fun if you can spell! Writing, of course, was with nibs and inkwells - very messy. Sports - strangely with a 'new' hall we were never allowed to use the equipment. Occasionally, we trooped down to the 'ten acre' pitch down Old Park Road for some attempts at running and football.
